Well we tried a package holiday in May
1999, charter flight (good old Fredie
Laker) and a suite at LaCabana. Although
we had fun and had a great time, we will stick with organizing our own
holidays in future, most of the fun is in organizing and discovering
thing yourself.
Here are some photographs we took, of the dry and varied landscapes
found in Aruba (Aruba's home page where
you will learn about the island and its history)
Aruba is a desert island. We explored the northern part of Aruba by jeep, it was a rough ride.
The north side of the island is barren and the Atlantic ocean pounds the shore, creating a rugged coast with many natural features carved out of the shore line. The most famous of these is the "Natural Bridge", shown here with the family on the top waving.

The south side of the island of Aruba is in the lee of the trade winds and is much calmer, as you can see from the sunset picture.

Most of the activities, along with the hotels and beaches are on the south side. Apart from the first day we spent the rest of the holiday on the beaches or snorkeling in the sea. The days generally ended with a swim in the pool before dinner

A highlight of the holiday was a trip out to the Antilles wreck for snorkeling on the sailing ship "Midouchi" ( meaning my darling in the local language)
